Fixing Windmills

The other day we had to return a pair down this canyon and when we got then driven to the tank we found the windmill more or less working but the water was going outside the tank - Hollywood and I got it fixed but it always makes my mind race with bizarre thoughts - what if he falls off that windmill - how will I get him out of here and my little mind races with all these different scenarios .....

Hey that is not paranoia, that is PLANNING AHEAD! ;) My great-grandmother alawys used to teach us kids that if you prepare for the worst, and believe in the best, that things work out for the best more often than not. But it sure made sense to be ready for crap to hit the fan too! ;)

Love the pics in your posts!

Funny thing about those windmills-they don't look that big until you get next to one and then they look really big when you are at the top of one.

LOL-made me think of the time Chris and I had to climb to the top of one to rescue a hawk that had his leg stuck. I never knew Chris was scared of heights until that day. I was amazed. This is a guy that climbs 100 foot gin poles in the oil field for a living...and he was scared to climb that windmill.
I asked him later how the hell he did his job when he was that scared of heights? He said it was because in the oil field you have a safety harness. Okay then-surprising the things you learn about people you think you know ;)

Oh I couldn't do that, very scary, can't stand heights, especially if unstable. I was just reading about how ranches use windmills to pump water to remote areas. I saw this in a huge coffee table style book on cattle, in our school library today. Funny you posted about windmills!

That bottom photo looks like a painting, with that light. Fantastic. Blow it up and hang it on the wall or sell it for a lot of money!

Those windmills ARE big, aren't they? Years ago, my grandfather actually fell off one, his injuries were terrible and he was alone when it happened and ended up driving himself back to the house after he came too... you are right to "plan ahead"...

I LOVE that last picture!

Our cable broke on the brake the other day and I was having the exact same thoughts!! Plus the wind was blowing while he was up there!! Glad everybody was ok!
