I LOVE that picture!!

Our Christmas season begins the Friday after Thanksgiving when my daughter sets up and decorates the tree while we all watch National Lampoon Christmas Vacation. We watch this because the movie was based on OUR family. And then we watch How the Grinch Stole Christmas. Of course we have ornaments that are required to be on the tree every year and Nativity Scenes that are always placed in the exact same place every year.

That is such a sweet picture! Our traditions include Christmas trees provided by our teenaged son. He gets them back in our woods. Sometimes they are Charley Brown trees. Sometimes they brush the ten-foot ceilings and crowd halfway across the living room. We love them all...this year we are decorating with corn and dried chilies to keep the cat from wrecking the good ornaments.

The whole family comes over on Christmas Eve now that they are older and have families of their own to spend Christmas morning with.
We do have a special French Toast breakfast on Christmas morning for whoever can make it.
Love the picture.

That is a really cute photo! They really do look like they're waiting for Mary and Joseph with the barn door open wide.

As a child, we always opened our gifts on Christmas Eve. My half-sisters and their families would come over. There was a huge meal and of course the dishes had to be done before gift giving! Oh, we were so impatient.

Mom always made lefse (a Norwegian potato flat bread...very much like a flour tortilla). I have her old potato ricer and have been meaning to give it a whirl.

Now that Mom's gone and my brothers and half sisters have grown kids of their own, it's not every year that we all get together.

LOL Our family tradition is deciding WHAT the Tradition actually IS! ;) My Mom in law and I were talking about that the other day, and both of us got a laugh out of it. The grandkids have traditions with Mom and Pop, but WE dont have one yet. It's a never ending source of amusement for me this time of year, and it sure is FUN- we get to explore lots of other ideas!

What a great photo! They sure do look like they're waiting on something! I've checked back through some of your older posts and you have quite a lot of nice pics! Beautiful scenery too - what part of the country is this?? I'm a first timer here, so hello.
Our family traditions have changed a bit, since mom and dad are both gone now. We gather at my sis's house for Christmas Eve, have a nice dinner and then have a "cutthroat" gift exchange. It's a blast!! All the gals bring a suitable gal gift and the guys do the same. You can pick a gift from under the tree or you can steal from somebody else!! It's definitely a hoot - puts the focus on the fun, and not so much the gifts. Afterwards, our son and grandkids usually spend the night and we watch the kiddos open gifts on Christmas morn. We lounge around and have breakfast, then the kiddos get to help feeding the horses. They're city kids so this is another highlight for them!
Merry Christmas!!

Well, on Christmas Eve, the kids sing santa in..and like magic he appears(someone always dresses up like santa) and then they get to open presents from grandparents and aunts and uncles. We also eat crab for dinner. Yum

I too LOVE that picture!

Every Christmas my family gets together and watches the movie National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation. It is so funny and we have some family members just like them! Good laughs.

Not really any traditions, just getting together with family. I love it. My grandmother passed away this year and this is the first time my family hasn't gotten together for Thanksgiving. I pray that we do for Christmas. My grandmother would want us to.

I remember Christmas Eve at my grandmother's house.....Too many present to count as she shopped all year long for this one day. Ice cream Santa's were our favorites. Dad came up from Florida. Uncle Ted singing Elvis' Christmas special, monkey's climbing Christmas trees! and always wondering who would be the greedy kid to open up the unmarked package of switches! Cherished memories that just might be a little familiar to you too, cowgirl!

We now combine the best of French and American Christmases' Our creche is from southern France and in addition to Mary, Joseph the animals and shepherds all the people of the town come. (The butcher, the baker, the fishmonger, the priest, etc. We start the e kings marching on Christmas day and sometimes they make it all over hte house before arriving at the manger scene on Epiphany. Midnight Mass and singing Christmas carols are now cherished traditions. Since we've been in Texas we decorate more with lights outside. In addition to my Moravian Star from NC we put white lights in all the bushes and have two pair of reindeer in the yard. (and we are pretty low key for our street! but I won't stoop low enough to buy any of thos tacky blow up things!) As a kid we had to ride across town to see the tacky fun christmas lights but in Texas EVERYONE decorates over the top!

Merry Christmas Cuz! Margaret
